History of Barr Irn-Bru
Barr Irn-Bru dates to 1901, when steelworkers reconstructing Glasgow Central Station found themselves quenching their thirst with beer. Sensing the need for intervention with a refreshing drink, a nearby soft drinks producer, AG Barr, introduced them to 'Iron Brew'. The drink, infused with caffeine and sugar, gave the workers the energy needed to get through the day. Now rebranded as Irn-Bru, the Scottish-born soft drink made using a secret recipe of over 32 flavours has stood the test of time and shows no sign of slowing down, labelled as Scotland's second national drink, with whiskey taking first place.
